Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman

Jalan Masjid India
Running parallel to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, this street is lined
by shops selling Indian items. This stretch of road is named after the
local mosque, which literally translated means "Indian mosque."
Brightly hued sarees and Bollywood-inspired Indian dresses (salwar kameez and lengas) are some of the greatest temptations here. Salwars are loose fitting tunics with a long knee-length shirt/blouse, while lengas are long skirts.
The majority of the bookshops stock religious books and a few sells locally published titles and textbooks for students. You may also find jewellery here. The prices correspond to the weight of the jewellery. But, the price of gold is fixed.
Most of the restaurants here offer halal cuisine, mainly a mix of Indian, Moghul and Malay dishes. You can find tasty Indian snacks, like samosa, ghulab jamun and vadai, which can be washed down with the black cincau or pink air bandung. Numerous budget cafe dish up delicious roti canai, biriyani and dhal.
You can reach here with the Star LRT or Putra LRT. It's also on walking distance from Petaling Street (China Town). The Masjid Jamek Station is only 200 meters away from this shopping bazaar.. |
