My second preference hotel after Casuarina. this hotel sometimes good, sometimes not so good...some rooms smelly. Food are similar everyday. Too many times stay in this hotel but the recent is the worst experience! I stay in this hotel for two weeks recently and you know what was happened? First day is ok...until i checkout and stay in Taiping for 2 days. Later I comeback to this hotel and they give me smelly room. After one day, I can't stand anymore and asking for another room. They change my room immediately. Tomorrow, I went to Sg. Siput for working and afternoon, suddenly I got a called from somebody saying my things are left in the room. I asked them who are they? They said they are now occupied the room...What??? They told me that they got my number because they saw my name and number on the laundry receipt...oh no...I asked them to stay and wait till I come back. When I arrived, I argue with the reservation staff, how they give my room to others while I still have another 5 days to stay..How about if that guy take my things and and asking for another room? To days after I went for breakfast and asking why the egg counter close today. You know what the answer? "Sorry sir, we have too many guest today, so we can't open the egg counter. As an option, we have scrumbled egg for all" I asked again, how come you say like that? You should prepare for that...and for me I can't accept the answer. The guy told me again..."Yes sir, I am very sorry, not only too many guest today, we also do not have enough raw material, i mean the egg..." Whoaaaa...what a stupid answer...do not have enough egg? Hahahahaha....

I booked two rooms at Syuen Hotel, Ipoh via Cuti and requested for adjourning rooms with connecting door because I have a 77 year old father who is hard of hearing and low vision eyesight with me.
When I called the hotel a day before my departure to ensure that everything is ok with my reservation, my request was not there and they told me that I will only get the connecting door IF it is available despite the fact that I made the reservation and paid my rates more than a month before my check-in date.
I then spoke to the duty manager, Hakim, who told me the same thing and the way he answered me was even more rude. He said they were fully booked and I will only know if I get my request when I check in, no matter what reasons I gave him.
Further, when I insist that the rooms be reserved for me, ie he can just block the rooms for me when someone checks out, because I had already made payment so the hotel will not lose out anyway, he told me that everyone else also paid up (meaning no special treatment for me). I don't believe him because my friend also booked at the hotel but she has not paid up yet. Payment is when they check in.
Then, when I said I will complain to Cuti website and to the hotel association/tourism board, he told me I can do so, "Everyone can complain so I can also complain."
If this is the way a frontline manager answer a customer, I wonder what we can expect from the downline. I also wonder if a tourist from another country will get the same treatment or is priority given to them?
If I had not booked via Cuti and paid up, I would have cancelled my reservation and booked at another hotel or cut short my trip if I am not given the connecting rooms. Cuti has been doing a good job for me so far but this incident has given me reservation over making advance booking/payment.

So-so hotel, probably 3 star not 4 as claimed. Breakfast choice and quality poor. Reception not so good, we were told incorrectly that we had to buy prepaid card for WiFi access in the lounge area - it was free but we only found out by experimenting. Cheapest (superior) rooms face internal covered courtyard so no breeze and lots of noise from others with their window open. No air con in gym, 2 fans but too high to reach controls. Changing room were a disgrace. Steam has been "Temporarily Out of Order" since August. Wouldn't return or recommend - we moved to the Ritz Garden hotel which is much better value and cheaper. On the up side, the bed was comfy and nice big bath.

me and my family stayed here for one nite with 2 deluxe rooms. the room is quite spacious and comfy and the bath room is clean too. the only problem is the air-con, it's so slow and i think it went off during the middle of the night cos i was sweating while i sleep... not very friendly receptionists didn't even stand up to welcome their guests... hey, u r not counter teller at bank. nevertheless, the hotel is so near to ipoh parade (within walking distance) and those well known restaurant for dim sum.
oh... hotel breakfast was not so great. perhaps more variaties...

The room is small and look run down. Don't feel comfortable staying there with those square box theme design. We asked for extra blanket which came with a big hole on it ! The staff were generally very polite, it's the maintenance that need to be look into seriously. Luckily we were not bitten by bugs !

I've selected this hotel for my stay twice this year. Overall, the service is good with a friendly and warm Indian lady of frontdesk (registered on 18/12/05, cudnt get her name). The only thing that bothered me is I was stung by the bugs I guess while I was in the bed. Pls look into this seriously.
